Preserve jars have long been produced as both practical kitchenware and decorative ceramics, with each maker developing distinctive forms and decoration that are now highly collectable. This varied group includes hand painted, moulded and transfer decorated examples, showcasing the diversity of twentieth century ceramic design. Highlights include two classic Sylvac preserve jars, a Clarice Cliff Bizarre example with a professionally reattached bee finial, a Torquay Motto Ware jar with a small chip to the inside of the lid, and a Japanese Marutomoware example with colourful mid century decoration. The jars measure approximately 4 to 4.5 inches in height and remain in good overall condition with the minor faults noted.
